What is Imposter Syndrome?

The term “Imposter Syndrome” was first coined in 1978 by clinical psychologists Dr. Pauline Clance and Suzanne Imes. It is not a disease or a mental health disorder but a specific form of self-doubt. People with this syndrome have a persistent belief that they’re frauds, despite evidence of their skills and achievements.

The Five Types of Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome can be divided into five types, namely the Perfectionist, the Superwoman/man, the Natural Genius, the Soloist, and the Expert. Each type has unique characteristics and exhibits different behaviours.
