Frequently asked Questions

This information gives you a key information about coaching, and coaching with me.

What is coaching?

Coaching is a process which helps you to identify where you are now in life, and where you want to be, and what is holding you back. It will help you make changes and progress faster than trying to figure out everything by yourself, and doing things the same way – with the same results. Coaching with me can apply to any area of your life. Often when we’re caught up in a circumstance or situation, we’re unable to look objectively and discover the way to resolve or get through it, and that’s what a good coach will help you with. I will work with you help you set and achieve goals, and release your potential. Here are a couple of well-known coaching definitions for you:

  • “Coaching is the art of facilitating the performance, learning and development of another.”–Myles Downey
  • “Coaching is about… unlocking a person’s potential to reach their own performance.”– Timothy Gallwey

Coaching is not therapy, mentoring, or consultancy. Typically, a coach does not give advice, but instead works with you to unlock solutions, answers and goals. It is important to tell me if you are currently in therapy, or under any medication I need to know about.

How have you helped people?

I have helped people in the following areas: building confidence, developing a vision and goals for their life, team conflict and dynamics, issues at work, career development and planning, setting up their own business aligned to the lifestyle that they want, time management, eliminating negative thought patterns and habits, setting boundaries, improving relationships, motivation, improving communications amongst many other topics. Please tell me your current challenges and we will focus on remedying those!

What is mentoring?

Mentoring works in a similar way to coaching but provides insights and guidance based on your coach’s experience. For example, if you want to set up your own business, that is something I have direct experience in and can offer my guidance and advice based on my own experience.

What is consultancy?

Consultancy delivers a solution or product – the consultant is involved in designing and providing you with the final item. This could be a web site, a workshop, a design item.

How does coaching with me work?

Upon your enquiry and our initial discussion. When we start working together, I will send another form for you to provide more background information to help our sessions. This form won’t take you long to complete and will help me to work with you in the most effective way possible. I will also send you a contract and my code of ethics. We can stick to pure coaching or combine coaching, mentoring and consultancy. Whatever works for your unique situation!

We will make progress by having a route map, that can be executed & measured guaranteeing progress & results.

What about the sessions?

Firstly, they are all 100% confidential and I am bound by the Coaching Academy’s Code of Ethics. I can provide sessions on a face-to-face, via phone or skype. Each session is typically 45-to-60 minutes long – each situation is unique. Typically, when working with organisations, I will go to the client’s place of work, but many individuals prefer Skype. I have a range of programmes I can offer you where you will undertake exercises yourself either via videos or workbooks and we will discuss these on our calls. Please visit the ‘Working With Me’ section of my web site.

How will I know if coaching is successful?

You are in charge of your own progress to a certain extent so being motivated is key! And if you are not motivated, we will evaluate your goals and if they are the right ones for you! However, you will start to experience changes. I’m proud to be able to say I have worked with so many people who have raised their awareness and achieved great success in their lives, all thanks to coaching. I also have a coach myself as I believe in the importance of coaching as a way to really get the best out of my life.

What happens if I need help in between our sessions?

I am here to support you as much as I can and I understand something may come up you want to briefly discuss with me. We can discuss this and add into your package.
