Experienced Leaders

As an experienced leader, you might have been on a leadership journey but realise we need to go further to develop a fuller, more conscious internal mindsets & skills to succeed. For example:

  • Dealing with conflict
  • Conscious leadership & listening
  • Influencing & gravitas – upwards, to your team & peers
  • Leading in a hybrid, volatile, changing world
  • Identifying your leadership career path & purpose
  • Emotional intelligence & listening
  • Flexible leadership
  • Active listening.

As an experienced leader, you will no doubt know by now, leadership is a state of being, a journey.

No two roles, even in the same organisation are the same, no two organisations are the same & we all have to update our skills & adapt our behaviours in what is a volatile, uncertain, complex & ambiguous world.

The increase in hybrid working & less traditional reporting lines & internal structures demand new skillsets.

Today’s leader needs to be conscious of all the above on tops of performance measurements. Environmental, social & governance concerns are also, rightly, at the forefront of a company & leader’s reputation.

So, the world has changed, and as an experienced leader, you need to change with it. ‘I say & you do’ doesn’t cut it anymore, your colleagues will vote with their feet & your reputation as a leader in this connected world will suffer.

Professionally, studies time & again show that colleagues want leaders who are present and consistently treat people with respect – this build trust, and trust builds performance. They want leaders who are self-aware, composed, fair and able to work effectively with all types of people.

Interpersonal skills combined with communication abilities foster strong and enduring working relationships. People want a leader that really listens & understands them and understand how they can combine their other interests & life priorities with their role.

Passion, teamwork & social skills are critical. Your team wants to feel & see your authenticity, your interest in them & what they do, and they want to very often know how they can contribute to the success of the organisation & grow.

Studies show that 79% of employees will quit due to a lack of appreciation from their leader, yet only 5% of organisations have leadership development programmes in place. When you consider that replacing a team member costs 30% of their package, that’s a big number if your team is unhappy.

Personally, it’s stressful to be in a role where you feel you are not motivated, or not able to give your best. When we are happy professionally, we are happy personally – statistics show that being happy at work improves your love life. But more than that, who wants to be stressed, second guessing themselves, or reeling from a poor performance review or feedback, or a boss who you can’t seem to influence.

Perhaps you have moved organisations & you realise you need to adapt your style to the new culture? Is that imposter syndrome creeping in (it’s very common 70% of executives experience this at least once in their careers).

Help is at hand; I’ve been where you are. In fact, I was on a board by the time I was 30, and the only woman. Being naturally dynamic & confident – I did very well but as time went on, and more was asked of me as a leader, I didn’t know where to start to adapt and flex my styles That cost me a lot of sleepless nights & long hours!

It doesn’t’ have to be that way!

I’ll work with you to develop a thorough leadership GAP analysis & review of your current behaviours at work. This analysis is based on globally insights over the last decades around what makes a successful leader.

From there we will build a plan that will include learning how to adapt your behaviour & increase your influence with other stakeholders, but we will also delve into modern leadership styles such as conscious leadership, servant leadership, situational and flexible leadership styles.

I firmly believe leadership is something that needs to start from the ‘Inside-Out’ and I’d be happy to help you build upon your current success where you are now or find a leadership role & environment that suits who you are NOW.
